Trygghetssystem

In varying situations are not students of the social security schemes in place for other groups in society. Below is a description of what applies to each area.

Housing
Housing allowances paid to families with children and people (under 29) without children. The preliminary housing allowance is determined by the income you expected to get a whole year. Final housing allowance is determined after the event, it is therefore calculated on the declared income for that year. Have you got the low preliminary contribution, you get an additional payment of interest and if you get too high preliminary contribution will repay you. Housing allowances are looking to the Social Insurance Agency. How much housing benefit you receive depends on income, housing cost and number of household members. 80% of the student grant is counted as income.

If you become ill
As a student, and are ill may be entitled to sick pay. How your sick pay will be calculated depends on whether you study with or without financial aid. Insurance calculates how much you get in sickness by calculating an income qualifying income (SGI).
Do not forget to report illness to the Insurance very first day of illness, it applies to you as a full-time student and you are entitled to sick pay from the employer for the first 14 days of illness.

The financial aid
The financial aid (also known as social assistance) are under the Social Services Act is divided into two parts:
1) Livelihood assistance (food, clothing, recreation, health & hygiene, consumables, paper, telephone and TV license)
2) Other financial support (grants for home, travel, non-emergency dental care, psychotherapy or other treatment).
It included the maintenance support, you are entitled to and including the right to appeal if you are unhappy with the decision. Other financial support, you are not the same right and can not be appealed. Maintenance support is divided into a flat-rate (national norm) that is now at 2900 SEK and assistance with reasonable costs. The level of the national standard set by the government and based on published price surveys. You can get a higher or lower than the national standard for special reasons, but the national standard should be viewed as a minimum. One should not accept a lower amount if there are special reasons.
The basic premise of getting social security benefits is that you can not meet your needs or can have them met by other means. You are required to actively seek work and participate in the offered employment policy measures. If you are poor in June before the salary or student aid has had time to get there is the possibility to receive social assistance to you to pay it back when the salary / student aid will, what is meant here is therefore a loan.

Student and parent?
If you become pregnant during their studies, you should immediately verify that you are registered with that institution. During parental leave, you are entitled to sick pay, and its size depends on how much you have worked before pregnancy (including summer jobs count). If you have not worked before, there is a guarantee rate of 60 per day in the maternity. For more information contact the insurance office. Remember that the franchise of the limit on how much you can earn a student to maintain the same student does not take into account that you have children, and the rules are pretty tight.
If you have children, you are entitled to be home with a sick child while maintaining their student (maximum 60 days per year). Contact your administrator at CSN for more detailed information.
When you become pregnant or if you intend to take parental leave you should contact your counselor. If you read on a training program, you should ask for a study break. If you read the individual courses so you can re-register for the course when you then must take up their studies again.
